Clearing the Path to the Northeast: Rs 1,176 Cr for New Teesta Bridge

The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 1,176 crore for the construction of a modern six-lane bridge across the Teesta River in West Bengal, announced Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Spanning 6.9 km at Sevoke on National Highway 10, the project addresses severe congestion along the primary gateway to Sikkim and the Northeast. By upgrading regional infrastructure, the Ministry aims to deliver seamless logistical efficiency, bolster national security movement, and support ongoing regional highway expansions like the Siliguri-Guwahati-Shillong corridor.
